Making my own frozen yogurt is something I love to do.  The recipes are so simple to make, taste absolutely delicious and are a great alternative to ice cream.

Finish off with toppings such as fresh fruit, granola and nuts to get the antioxidants, protein and fibre benefits. These toppings will likely be lower in calories, fat and sugar than other toppings.

Lemon Coconut Frozen Yogurt

 

Ingredients 

  • 375g Greek yogurt

  • 2 tbs grated lemon zest

  • 125ml coconut milk

  • 3 tbs honey, or to taste

  • 60g desiccated coconut

 

Method
Prep: 10min   Extra time: 4hr freezing  

  1. Place the yogurt, lemon zest, coconut milk, desiccated coconut and honey in a blender. Blend until smooth.

  2. Taste to see if it is sweet enough.  You want it to be a little sweeter than you like it because when it is cold it will taste less sweet.

  3. Pour into a tub or individual empty yogurt cartons and freeze for at least 4 hours.

Mango & Lime Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients

  • 280g (2 cups) frozen mango

  • 2 tbs honey or agave nectar

  • 60g (¼ cup) plain yogurt (Greek, non-fat or full fat)

  • 3 tbs fresh lime juice

  • Zest of 1 fresh lime

 

Method 

Prep: 10min   Extra time: 4hr freezing  

  1. Add the frozen mango, honey (or agave nectar), yogurt and lime juice into a blender.

  2. Mix until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.  Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.

  3. Grate over the zest of 1 lime and stir into mixture.

  4. Transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for a minimum 4-6 hours. Can be stored frozen for up to 1 month

Chunky Monkey Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients

  • 60g (¼ cup) plain yogurt (Greek, non-fat or full fat)

  • 1 frozen Banana

  • 2 tbs honey or agave nectar

  • 2-3 tbs chunky Peanut or Almond Butter

  • ¼ tbsp. Ground Cinnamon

  • 2 tbs Cacao Powder or Cocoa Powder

  • 1 tbsp. Dark Cacao Nibs

Method 

Prep: 10min   Extra time: 4hr freezing  

  1. Put all the ingredients into a blender.

  2. Mix until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. It's fine t still have lumps in the mixture.

  3. Transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for a minimum 4-6 hours. Can be stored frozen for up to 1 month.
